There are many different types of loft conversion. Side hipped roofs that require gable conversions or side dormers and up and over roofs requiring dormers at the front and rear being just two of them.
Side gables are not accepted by the Local Authority in some areas. In this case, a side dormer must be implemented. Whatever your design, Oakwood will provide a fully qualified design team to ensure that your loft conversion matches your property perfectly.
Oakwood can also design the interior of your loft conversion. From a single large room to several rooms with en-suit bathrooms, Oakwood can cater for all requirements.
Dormer
If the existing loft space is insufficient in size, a dormer may be used. A dormer creates additional headroom for the staircase and new room(s). If a bathroom is proposed along with the rooms, the Dormer provides increased height above the fittings.
Rooflight/Velux™
This option is generally suited for smaller loft conversions (i.e. a single bedroom) where the existing loft provides sufficient height. Rooflights can then be installed.
